Clare has been teaching the violin for nearly 25 years, bringing together a wealth of experience from her professional training and work as a freelance violinist. She teaches students of all ages and abilities, ranging from complete beginners to Diploma standard.
Whilst tailoring her lessons to each student, Clare enjoys teaching students who wish to learn the violin for fun, or those who are preparing for ABRSM and Trinity examinations, music festivals, school scholarship exams, GCSE and A Level recitals, and university/ conservatoire auditions. In addition to her private teaching, Clare has accepted the role of Head of Strings at Epsom College, starting in September 2025.
Where possible, Clare incorporates the fundamentals of Alexander Technique and Pilates into her general teaching method and lessons. This is primarily to encourage healthy playing and correct posture, and therefore prevent any unnecessary tension when playing the violin. Lessons and can last for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour or more, depending on the student’s age and ability.
If you wish to enquire about violin lessons with Clare, please do not hesitate to get in touch here. In addition to availability and tuition fees, Clare would be more than happy to advise about buying/ hiring a violin (including sizing), or any other questions you may have.
